CITY and the MISSING LINK

City and the Missing Link is a visual-text experimental narrative that explores the diversity of a city (Lagos) through its people and architecture with a set of single images that give a collective nuance of a place. As a collage of thoughts, the images serve as an undertone response (s) to the texts, which were words said to me on the streets and train stations in different cities in Germany.

- What are you doing here? 2013, Berlin

- Go back to Africa! 2017 Frankfurt

- You are a Black Jew! 2017! Mannheim

- I will blow your Blackhead off! 2017, Dresden

Through this presentation, participants are requested to question their perceptions of friends, colleagues, and strangers from a culture different from theirs. The audience/participants are not only observers but also collaborators and contributors in this eclectic image and textual presentation that queries power structure and inferiority complex in human genealogy. Hence, if you feel comfortable, you could either rewrite the texts in your own words, edit them to suit your thoughts or write a text that presents your position (s) on racial clashes and intercultural gazes.
